Shubham Kakade is a visual artist and an MA Photography student at Kingston University London. His work explores themes of identity, memory, place and storytelling, shaped by cultural narratives. He sees photography as a universal language conveying emotion in each image. His images invite viewers to interpret their own stories and reflect on shared experiences. His conceptual approach uses imagery to convey ideas beyond the surface. Photography can explore “identity, memory, and time,” encouraging deep engagement with each picture. He composes each photo intentionally, aiming to encapsulate a moment and spark thought in the viewer. Shubham collaborated with MA Sustainable Fashion students at Kingston, blending storytelling with eco-conscious design. Their project celebrated upcycling; each photograph “tells a story of upcycling… offering a glimpse into thoughtful collaboration and the potential for interdisciplinary work”. The project broadened his perspective on how fashion, culture and environment can intersect in a single frame. Shubham aspires to become a well-known photographer. He is inspired by photographers like Dorothea Lange and Steve McCurry, whose iconic images live on for the stories they tell. His journey reflects growing confidence and dedication; each project refines his voice, deepening his connection with viewers. He aims to illuminate human connection.
